GREEN BAY, WI—(WGBW)— The Brown County Public Health Department installed six free-standing sharps containers throughout the Village of Ashwaubenon in preparation for the NFL Draft coming to the area next week.
In a press release, Brown County Public Health stated that the containers will provide a secure and responsible way to dispose of used needles, syringes, and other sharps, thereby helping to keep public spaces clean and safe.
“This is a proactive step to protect our community,” said Emily Corrigan, Communicable Disease Specialist at Brown County Public Health. “By providing accessible, discreet sharps disposal options, we’re reducing the risk of accidental needle sticks and promoting a safer environment for everyone enjoying this great event.”
The containers are available for anyone who needs them, including community members, visitors, and people managing chronic conditions like diabetes.
The sharps containers will be installed on Monday, April 21 in six high-traffic areas near NFL Draft activities within the Village of Ashwaubenon:
- Stadium View Bar, Restaurant, & Event Halls (1963 Holmgren Way)
- Badger State Brewing Company (990 Tony Canadeo Run)
- Bellin Health Titletown Sports Medicine and Orthopedics (1970 S. Ridge Road)
- Argonne Park (2020 Argonne Street)
- Canterbury Park (1154 Canterbury Road)
- Skyline Park (951 Park Ridge Drive)
Each unit is clearly marked, weather-resistant, and securely mounted for ease of use and public safety. They will remain in place during the NFL Draft event on April 24 – 26, with removal scheduled for Monday, April 28.
This sharps disposal initiative is made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Village of Ashwaubenon and LRI Logistics Recycling Inc.
