GREEN BAY, WI – (WGBW) – Supporting veteran-owned and military-family-owned businesses and providing services to connect veterans to business are part of the mission of the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce.
“Our mission is to make Wisconsin the best state in the nation for veterans and their families,” said Shane Kanneberg, the Northeast Regional Director of the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber. “We do that through business, workforce, and community.”
Kanneberg said the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber will help employers be veteran-ready. It helps veteran-owned businesses connect and thrive and highlights veterans in the community.
It also will help veterans and businesses connect for employment with programs like “Invest in Vets.”
“We work with those companies to help them learn how to best hire veterans and retain them,” said Kanneberg. “Part of that is talking about programs like ‘Helmets to Hardhats’ or the different incentives there are for hiring veterans in general, but also service-disabled veterans.”
Helping veterans start their own businesses is another part of their mission.
“We do networking events. We have our Command Post business accelerator helping those folks to scale their business,” said Kanneberg. “Then we have a specific military consultant within the small business development center that works with those folks on all of those topics related to starting up your business.”
